BAPP Task 2a Reflective Journal Task

The task 2a of the Module 1 of the BA (Hons) in Professional Practice at the Middlesex University consists of starting to explore my own thoughts through a journal, it can be done in several ways (Diary, online, audio….), in my case I will use a diary, because I have used diaries before in my life, so it will be a continuation of this process to help organise my thoughts and feelings of my days. After we have created this journal, we need to write a post on our blogs about it (Showing some examples of it) in order to explain our thoughts and the process of our thinking.

For the past two weeks I have been writing a diary (Below you can see an example of the past 3 days), as requested for this task, it is not the first time that I have done one, therefore, this task is not difficult for me, actually it is really interesting to observe how my thinking has developed in the past 3 years since I stopped doing my last diary.
I am very passionate about writing and thinking so this task was a great opportunity for myself to start again a diary, so I can keep developing a better and deeper understanding of myself.

Especially this week has been a really intense and exciting one, for the whole week we have been doing dress rehearsals with audience for the premiere of Peer Gynt at The Latvian National Opera, and tonight is the big premiere! Also I visited the National Library of Latvia for the first time (You can a photo of it below), and I was amazed with is, it is huge and incredible beautiful, the whole Library is build on glass, and it was created to represent the human knowledge, therefore is has the shape of a pyramid (With 11 floors of different thematics). And apart from that I was also working of my own projects, so as you can see a busy week!

Writing a diary is allowing to reflect on myself about what have I done each day, what were my feelings about, Was I happy with result? Or how can I improve that for the next day or the next time I do it? Having a diary it really helps me to grow as human being.

I highly recommend to everyone to have a journal of them, it is so helpful, not only for academic purposes, but to understand you in a much deeper way!

BAPP Task 1c Audio-Visual

The task 1c of the Module 1 of the BA (Hons) in Professional Practice at the Middlesex University consists of creating a YouTube Channel and upload a 45 second clip on ‘Starting out on BAPP Arts expressing your aspirations and intentions and how you might use the programme to support your developing professional practice’

YouTube is a video-sharing website created 11 years ago in California (USA), nowadays has become global, being one of the most influential social media in the world, it allows billions of people to watch and share a wide variety of videos like TV Shows, Music Video clips or Movie Trailers. In fact, at the moment many people watch more TV through YouTube, rather than trough the traditional TV, like me, because it allows you to watch an specific clip you want to see, you can see it again or go back at it, as well as you can interact with it. It allows a free way of watching TV, than in a traditional TV you can´t.

In the Performing Arts Area, YouTube has changed everything, nowadays you can watch and incredible amounts of shows and performers through it (Full Shows, small clips, advertisements…) Therefore I have joined the community too, since 2012 I have my own channel, here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCelchC0aa_Mr0i02EncelzA, and you can the cover of my cannel in the photo below.

In this channel I upload a variety of videos (Trailer of performances with The Latvian National Ballet, Full clips of some solos and galas, interviews and the latest one was my First Promotional Video that finish my Project, The Reborn Tour 2016). It is a great tool for my career, due it gives the chance not only to promote my work online, but also to interact with my audience, as well as reach dozens of countries worldwide that I haven´t visited yet.

Due to the BA (Hons) in Professional Practice at the Middlesex University I created another YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClr8UeeuInvnUF2DG1zihzA  to upload all my work at this course. Our first task is to create a small video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBhpYk4eUeU&feature=youtu.be to introduce us and explain why we have enrolled the course and our intentions to use for our professional practice. Even though I haven´t been in front of the camera for interviews or speeches, it always stressful when you put yourself there, when you listen to your voice, it is not a pleasant process, however it is essential that we go through it so we improve every time we see and listen to ourselves and hopefully one day It will get easier!

I hope you enjoy both of my cannel and don´t forget to subscribe so you can be updated of what´s happening there!

BAPP Task 1d: 2d Images

The task 1d of the Module 1 of the BA (Hons) in Professional Practice at the Middlesex University consists of posting a set of images into an online image bank (In my case my Instagram Official Account) and write a post about it into our BAPP Blog commenting about the importance of the use of images and audio-visual in today’s social media.

Since July 2015, when I joined Instagram, I have been posting images of my work as a dancer and writer on this network, these includes important performances and premieres with my company: The Latvian National Ballet, different galas that I had the chance to perform both in Spain and Latvia, also some of the articles and interviews that I have written as a collaborator of the magazine Danza en Escena or the social events that I have been attending in the past months, as well as many other things related to my work.

For me Social Media is essential due to it gives me the chance to interact with my audience, as well as creating new ones in places that I haven´t performed yet like Mexico, USA or Argentina, and that thanks to these tools, people in those countries have been able to see my work. So I think that nowadays Social Media is an essential tool for every area you work on, it gives you the chance to create a worldwide network of people related with your work (audience/clients, directors, brands…) that you can use it to improve your work as well as develop it.

Here you can see an example of my work, performing in the II Gala Biloba in April 2016 in Logroño (Spain)

And here you can see another example of my work in a Photoshoot with the Spanish Photographer, Alberto Rodrigalvarez in June 2016 in Zaragoza (Spain)
